Founded in 2000, Kaun Banega Crorepati was launched at a time when few people had smartphones. As the clock hit 9 p.m., the crowd tuned in to witness the participants compete for the prize money of Rs 1 crore, which they were hoping to win. Now, more than two decades later, the quiz-based reality show is still a big hit with the public. Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood superstar who has dominated the business since 1969, is the driving force behind the film’s success. As of July 3, 2000, Amitabh Bachchan was the host of the inaugural season of KBC, which aired on Star TV. He’s still conquering hearts with KBC Lucky Draw 2021 today, the Shahenshah of Bollywood. Let’s relive Amitabh Bachchan’s journey on Kaun Banega Crorepati as he celebrates his 79th birthday today.
KBC SEASON 1’S RACE TO THE TOP
KBC and Amitabh Bachchan arrived in our homes in the year 2000. Season 1 of Kaun Banega Crorepati was a huge hit. It not only propelled Star Plus to the top of the ratings, but it also brought Amitabh Bachchan back to the top of the list. After a succession of duds, Big B was having difficulty finding the perfect roles at the time. Actors in Bollywood were lining up to work with him after the show’s massive popularity. First, of its kind in India, the format of KBC caught the curiosity of Indians. A series of questions would be asked by Amitabh Bachchan, depending on various themes and topics. To get closer to the grand prize, the participant needed to get more correct answers right away. The winning prize money for Season 1 was Rs 1 crore.
Harshvardhan Nawathe was the first KBC champion, winning Rs 1 crore in the inaugural season. Before the answers to the Rs, one crore question was given, the participants had revealed that Amitabh Bachchan had instructed his makeup artist to do Harshvardhan’s makeup. A memorable gesture’ had been described by him. Big B is a truly down-to-earth personality who still enjoys mingling with the show’s participants.
KBC Host Big B had only one condition before he agreed to the job:
Siddhartha Basu, the producer of KBC WhatsApp Lottery Winner 2022, had already revealed how Amitabh Bachchan came on board. Before agreeing to host the show, Big B made one requirement clear in an interview with IndianExpress.com. He had previously stated, “No megastar had hosted a television show in India, or anywhere else for that matter. ” The goal was to achieve the greatest potential impact. After much deliberation, Amitabh Bachchan decided to enter the television business against general advice to the contrary. Before making his decision, he opted to watch the original Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show in London. When he watched it, he decided to recreate the conditions and discipline of that show with one rider in KBC. As far as I was concerned, there was no going back.”
“Initially, he had reservations about discussing himself and getting personal with candidates,” said the producer. He began to open up gradually and now truly enjoys associating with people of various backgrounds.”
Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t recapture the magic of AMITABH BACHCHAN.
We have a good reason to believe that Big B is essential to the success of the KBC. In 2005, Amitabh Bachchan returned with KBC Dwitiya, a prize pot of Rs 2 crore. He had to cancel the event early due to his health difficulties. Season 3 was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan in 2007, but the show didn’t work out. SRK was unable to connect with the audience and was frequently likened to his predecessor, Big B.
