The Geiger comic series debuted in April 2021 and received an overwhelming response from fans. In fact, the first copy sold out ahead of its debut. The creator, Geoff Johns, wanted to explore a different creative angle. With his experience as a chief creative officer at DC, he was willing to tap into the wilderness of Tariq Geiger—a devoted father and a part-Arab fighter. Before this, Johns had penned a similar character in ‘Green Lantern Canon’. The Geiger comic rolled out in a 7-part series, with the last issue in September 2021. Fans all over the world are eager to learn more about Volume 2, and here are a few fascinating facts.
Inspired By Sources
The creators pulled inspiration from comics such as MadMax, The Hills Have Eyes, and True Grit. The next part in the Gieger series, named ‘ The Untamed-The World of Geiger’, is supposedly in the making. Fans will see new characters in pre and post-apocalyptic phases.
Intriguing Storyline
The comic is set in and around Las Vegas, a city known for all things intriguing. The newer comics will be in similar places, emphasizing the latest characters.
The Characters are Connected
Johns and the other creators never created stand-alone characters. They believe that connected characters bring more depth and increased curiosity. This process also allows for drawing attention to the main character: Geiger. Nonetheless, fans were in for an enormous treat with this version: Geiger’s ’80 Page Giant #1. The series witnessed the introduction of new characters such as Red Coat, Barney, and more.
Different Looks
The group is well-known for its inventiveness. The Geiger comic series had two covers: one with the image and one with the ‘Glowing Man.‘ These covers increased curiosity amongst the readers. The truth is that the forthcoming series will be more inventive than the original Geiger.
The Spin-Off Series
The creators will soon release a spin-off of the famous Geiger called ‘Junkyard Joe’. The newer series is expected to feature a larger cast of characters. Image Comics will publish a black and white issue of Junkyard Joe #1. Every issue sold will result in a $2 donation to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
Joe exists in a much larger world than Geiger. He is a mysterious robot soldier, and the story revolves around the cartoonist who created him. While Geiger was a hit with comic book fans, Junkyard Joe will revel in it.
